Characteristics
The Wharfedale Diamond 11.5 Floor Standing Speakers are the newest generation of Diamond speakers. They include design elements that have never been at such an affordable price considering. At the beginning of the design engineers Wharfedale went back to the basics to create a speaker to this would revolutionize the hi-fi market sector again. The result brings high-end performance within reach of many music lovers.
With an advanced driver system Wharfedale Diamond 11.5 speakers includes elements that are usually only found in more expensive, high-end speakers to find. The woofer midrange drivers and using a basket with a network of ribs to the stiffness of the basket and at the same time to maintain a large open area to leave behind the cone. This stiffness will improve the transient impact while the large open area will reduce the early reflections to the cone, leaving the generous internal cabinet can work well.
Technology
The Wharfedale Diamond 11.5 speakers have a massive magnet used to increase the sensitivity and absolute control over cone movement to ensure the lower bass frequencies, and also use a specially shaped single forged pole piece with brass cap to the magnetic flux to arrange. This ensures that there is a low distortion is achieved through the critical mid-range area. Progressive suspension with lightweight foamed edge makes the Diamond 11.5 has an extended midrange response. The super-long-rotary voice coil motor system will reach an astonishing linearity and accuracy will be difficult to match by any competitor. The woven Kevlar cone is treated to exactly match the new suspension elements.
The high-frequency performance is improved with an evolved tweeter design. The oversized ceramic magnet system is re-used with a copper cap for the flux control. The pole piece is passed to a contoured back to provide a low resonance frequency and provide excellent linearity across the operating system. The textile dome contributes to a clear midrange performance in addition to a precise high frequency detail.
The crossover integration in the Wharfedale Diamond 11.5 speakers uses a highly evolved virtual crossover software system that helps create a series of circuit options that combine the bass / midrange and treble units seamlessly with each other. The aforementioned circuit options are then evaluated using strict listening tests for a period of months, using a wide variety of different music. After the final circuit strategy has been chosen, the design team accurately adjusts the crossover component values, component types and layout of the circuit board to provide an accurate, detailed and enjoyable performance with only a listening test as an arbitrator of quality.
Design
The cabinets of these speakers are made with a refined multi-layer of wood from different density to mute the recognizable characteristics of the 'sound' cupboard, so that the drive units speak for themselves. The critical reinforcement of the cabinet, along with the curvature of the cupboard walls - as such designed to provide a shape that is not a box-like - the resonances have reduced more than 25DB under the outputs of the driver.
These cupboard walls are also coated with a specially developed internal fiber selected because of the excellent absorbent qualities about a large bandwidth. The result shows the listener the output of the driver unit without being hurt by unwanted colors caused by panel vibrations or internal resonances, so that a more revealing performance is possible when it comes to the details of the music.
